New EP

Recorded over an embarrassingly short amount of time. Oh well, I like it.
Full-length is just about done.
Rough mix of a new song. Recorded my friend Dan playing upright bass and I filled in the rest. It’ll get smoothed over in the next month or so.
I’m writing again. It’s coming out slow, steady, finding only a thin trickle of sentence forming from my heightened sense of what will require constant revision, and what won’t.
I’ve begun too many books and given up every single time. It’s a cliche. I remember writing 70 pages on my mother’s typewriter over the course of a summer — telling myself I’d sleep on it for a month, come back to it, reevaluate everything and forge on. That month passed, but nothing stuck. It all seemed the writing of a me years younger, not a month.
It’s been the more or less the same novel each time. There’s a story I’m skirting the edges of. I’ve been waiting, attempting, and, finally, forgetting to tell it. It’s there.
It’s this time or never. My weeks are busier than they ever have been in my 24 years. So much is requiring my attention. I need to figure out how to allocate time to this without it withering.
I fear in a month, whatever I’ve written will be disregarded. I fear that I’ll think I can do better. Will it be true? Do I have constantly progressing standards? Or am I afraid to finish something that may or may not live up to what I set out to do? Will this story evolve over my time telling it? How many authors have a complete story and tell exactly that?
We’ll see.
